Tooth tattoos and tooth jewels have become one of the hottest fashion trends, and a very popular new trend in cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Fundora offers the option to have a tooth tattoo applied if a patient requires a crown. Jewels may also be applied to the crown if requested.
The tattoo is applied directly to the crown in the dental lab when the crown is being created. The image, selected by the patient, is carved into the crown by the artist/technician, then baked onto the crown to become a personalized embellishment, and is often an alternative to a body tattoo. Hearts, symbols, and pets are some of the most popular tattoos. Because the image is applied directly to the crown, there is no additional drilling or damage to the actual tooth. A tooth tattoo is also easily removed by simply grinding the image off of the crown.

Applying a jewel is another, personalized option. The patient must supply the jewel based upon specific guidelines that Dr. Fundora will discuss prior to the procedure. Crown preparation for a jewel implant differs from the tattoo because the stone cannot withstand the high temperatures needed to bake the crown. The dental lab must build a metal ring inset in which to set the jewel. The results, however, are the same - a personalized, glamorous addition to an individual's smile. "It's the perfect fashion accessory for me. It adds 'oomph' to my appearance at the clubs," said a young Hollywood celebrity who recently chose a diamond in her crown implant.
Tooth tattoos are relatively inexpensive and take about the same time as crown preparation. Contact us for more information.
Treatment plans are discussed with all patients before work begins so that there is full understanding of the procedures, time and cost.
